Robert Len plays wonderfully eclectic music that is both a joy to listen to and mind inspiring. He is obviously a very talented musician, but his music goes beyond that.
I started out with Crossroad and quickly decided that I wanted more in my collection. For listeners who want more than the standard fare, this is the good stuff. The recording quality is, as usual, very high, which adds to the whole experience

These fresh renditions of Dave Brubeck’s most memorable recordings, recorded ‘off-the-floor’ in 2 tracks at 15 ips, using the purest audiophile analog techniques, capture the energy and joy of three brilliant L.A. musicians playing together as one, seizing the well-known tunes, making them freshly their own. This recording was accepted with great enthusiasm when released as a high-res download.

A master of the subtle art of rhythm guitar as well as a gifted soloist, Bucky Pizzarelli, was known for his uncommonly sweet and delicate tone and disarmingly straightforward approach to melodic line. He became a mainstay of the New York jazz scene, often performing with his celebrated son John. Pizzarelli was among the few guitarists to play an instrument with seven strings rather than the customary six.
‘I like this album. Not only that, we both like the same ice cream. It’s sheer pleasure to hear a guitar sounding like a guitar again – Les Paul 1972

With more than 67 minutes of extraordinary ground-breaking music, this live recording of electric bass genius Jaco Pastorius and the Word of Mouth Big Band, featuring harmonica virtuoso Toots Thielemans as special guest, was recorded in analog 24 tracks by the Record Plant mobile truck at the Avery Fisher Hall in NYC on June 27, 1982 as part of George Wein's Kool Jazz Festival. An extraordinary recording of an extraordinary performance.
This Deluxe 45rpm 180g edition is the first one to be mastered from the original 2 track master tapes that were found some 30 years later (the previous digital download versions were released from a digital remix of the 24 tracks). What we have here is the direct copy of the original pure analog 2 track.

WHY LATE NIGHT?
The recordings in this album were made late in the evening, at the end of the famous Jazz at the Pawnshop’s last set. They were discovered in a vault decades later and subsequently mastered and released by 2xHD.
At the end of the evening, before packing their instruments to go home, jazz musicians often will play a set for themselves. These tapes hold the recording of such a moment, as the famous Jazz at the Pawnshop group play with longer solos, leaving themselves more liberty to spontaneously explore the many jazz possibilities of the songs. These discovered recordings were mastered by 2xHD’s René Laflamme and released under the appropriate title
LATE NIGHT.
A special moment when musicians play for their own pleasure.

The new and rare collection of tracks on this album is a thoughtfully chosen compilation from Ben Webster’s
European period (1964-1970). The offer to play for a month at Ronnie Scott’s Club in London in late ‘64, marks a
turn in Ben Webster’s career as he settled in Northern Europe, where he spent the rest of his life.
Even if his body declined during his last years, his playing never did. To the last day, Webster played with passion
and intensity and his ballad playing became even more beautiful and tender, simplified almost to the laconic and
delivered with weight on every note. Webster was one of the unique jazz musicians whose presence came through
on every recording. The tracks in this album present a window to that very important period in Webster’s career.
Mastered by René Laflamme from the original 15 ips tapes, on all tube equipment.

“Bill Evans Live at Art D’Lugoff’s Top of the Gate… rivals Evans’s revered Village Vanguard recordings for Riverside in June ’61. The music is frighteningly vivid – like being seated at a table on stage amid the musicians.” — Wall Street Journal.
The two volumes capture two complete sets of the Bill Evans trio with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell on October 23, 1968, at Art D’Lugoff’s legendary Village Gate club in New York City. It’s the only Evans recording released from The Village Gate. The trio had been together only for several weeks when these recordings were made. The leader's playing remains a wonder to behold. The quality of the ideas that flowed from his brain to his hands is unmatched in the history of jazz piano. Never the flashiest nor the loudest player, Evans had a quiet grace and an exquisite impressionistic touch that to this day remain unequaled.

This is one of the most extraordinary musical archeological finds, recorded June 20th, 1968, by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer (HGBS) and Joachim-Ernst Brendt in Germany’s Black Forest Studio. This is no ordinary recording. It’s a remarkable document of an under-represented period in the career of one of the icons of Jazz.
2xHD received Positive Feedback’s ‘Best Sounding album of the year’ award for this album two years in a row.
One of the world’s Audiophile innovators collaborated with 2xHD for this fully analog musical collection, to celebrate this important milestone. Includes performances by Bill Evans, Louis Armstrong, Shirley Horn, Monty Alexander and more.

This exceptional recording of a remarkable interpretation captures the reflective mood of the late-night intimacy of the recording sessions. Shirley Horn’s performances here, surrounded by devoted friends, protected from the time-is-money anxiety and the clinical ambiance of commercial recording studios, is more introspective and emotionally intense than anything she has recorded before. The recording is so remarkable, the sheer beauty of her sound will warm your heart.

This truly intimate and personal acoustic jazz album was recorded ‘off the floor’ with no overdubs; displaying a wonderful spontaneous fusion of spirit. The David Piltch and Aaron Davis duo has been appreciated by audiophiles since their early 90s performances as part of the Holly Cole Trio, in the classic album ‘Don’t Smoke in Bed’ and ‘Girl Talk’
